Osvaldo Vallejo-Perez, age 21, of New York City, was arrested around 11:32 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 28, in Seaford, said the Nassau County Police.

According to detectives, an unknown man, later identified as Vallejo-Perez, contacted the 90-year-old woman saying he was a court officer.

Vallejo-Perez then claimed the victim’s grandson had been arrested for DWI and needed $25,000 dollars for bail.

The victim’s home aide believed this may be a scam and called a relative to confirm the grandson was not arrested. Police were contacted and a transaction was arranged. The home aide requested a receipt in exchange for the payment.

At approximately 1:45 p.m., Vallejo-Perez arrived driving a blue Acura. He exited the vehicle, approached the house, and accepted an envelope that he believed contained the money.

Police attempted to Vallejo-Perez, who resisted. After being subdued, he was placed under arrest.

Vallejo-Perez was charged with grand larceny and resisting arrest.

He was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in court in April.
